Dear young ones, dear older ones,

12.09.11 –

With our letters we would like to support your decision-making at the Berlin City parliament elections on September 18th. Please let yourself be convinced to cast your vote for the Greens!

You want to experiment how you want to live, learn and work? You want to offer your children all the chances and at the same time continue developing your career? You want to do your thing and not be left out because of your age?

We Greens want a city in which everyone feels at home. Children and Youth need free spaces - guaranteed. Parents need support. And all people should be enabled to be a part of society - up into the old age.

Good chances from the beginning! Children are best protected from poverty if their parents have a fair-payed job and if they get the right aid in an early age. We need to strengthen the Berlin economy and invest massively in education.

This starts with the youngest ones: You should have open access to offers in sports, music, culture and health support. We fight for your child to get the right care and early individual aids: by creating a comprehensive supply of child daycare with enough personnel which is qualified and interculturally competent.

Young people are the future of our city! We want to take care that you can finally have a say in what happens here. Youth shall be eligible to vote for the Berlin City Parliament starting at age 16 and be encouraged to participate in politics. For example, we want every district to have a youth budget, and it shall be up to you to decide what to spend it on. It is also important to give you rooms where you can be yourselves together with people the same age.

You are older but in the middle of it anyway! We want everyone to be able to lead an active life, regardless of age. The job market and the society need the experiences and qualifications of older people. A cooperation of generations, new forms of living like shared appartments for old people and the necessary barriers-free infrastructure enable you to lead a self-dependent life, regardless of your age.

We want a basic rent, paid for in solidarity, to prevent poverty in the old age. We are of the conviction that rent financing needs to be secured for the retirees of today, as well as for their children tomorrow and their grandchildren of the day after tomorrow.

Support us with your vote for Bündnis 90/Die Grünen on September 18th. Then it will be soon: Welcome to the multi-generational city!

Kind regards,
Your Greens
